Privacy Policy
Effective July 1, 2026
In short: we do not run a server, we do not have accounts, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. Your plant records and photos stay on your device and in your own private iCloud.
Dexter Leaf ("the app") is published by Dexter Leaf Co ("we," "us"). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. It is written to match how the app actually behaves.
Information the app stores
The app stores the information you enter about your plants — names, notes, care schedules, photos, propagation and lineage records, tissue-culture logs, and similar collection data. This information is stored:
- On your device, and
- In your private iCloud (Apple CloudKit) database, if you have iCloud enabled, so it can sync across your own Apple devices.
We (Dexter Leaf Co) have no access to your iCloud data. It is controlled by your Apple ID and governed by Apple's privacy policy. We operate no server and receive none of this information.
Camera and photo access
With your permission, the app uses your camera to photograph plants and scan nursery tags, and your photo library to attach existing photos and to save photos into a "Dexter Leaf Co" album. Tag scanning uses on-device text recognition (Apple's Vision framework); the images are processed on your device and are not sent to us. Camera and photo access are optional — the app works without them.
Notifications
The app can send you local notifications as reminders to water, fertilize, or refresh growing medium. These are scheduled on your device based on your own settings. We do not send you marketing or promotional notifications. The app's background "remote notification" capability is used only for Apple's CloudKit to keep your data in sync across your devices.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the app contacts no tracking servers.
Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you are in control. Deleting a plant removes it from the app; deleting the app and clearing its iCloud data (via iOS Settings → your name → iCloud) removes the associated records. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same URL.
